Parents who serve peanut butter or boxed pasta meals to their children should check the items they have on their shelves this evening!
Peter Pan and Great Value Peanut Butter, mostly distributed in the Alleghenies by ConAgra foods has been recalled due to an associated outbreak of more than 300 illnesses across the country.
All Peter Pan or Great Value lids, stamped with a number starting at 2111 are affected.
If you suspect you have a jar of the affected peanut butter, save the lid and send it along with your name and address to:

In addition, the Pennsylvania division of ConAgra Foods, Inc, in Milton, Pennsylvania has voluntarily recalled pasta and meatball meals due to under-processing. Unlike the contaminated peanut butter, the pasta and meatball meals were distributed to a much wider area nationwide, however, no illnesses from consumption of these products has been reported. When checking the FDA website, this particular recall did not appear in the days activities.
Pasta Meals affected are:
- 36.6 ounce cartons of “Banquet, Homestyle Bakes, Pasta & Meatballs in Marinara Sauce, Marinara Sauce with Meat, Penne Pasta & Grated Cheese, Meatballs included.” Those cartons affected can be identified with a “best-by” date of Jan 25, 2008, Dec 13, 2007, Nov 13, 2007 or cot 19, 2007. Identifying numbers on the marinara sauce and meatballs bears the establishment number of “EST 794” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
